Sometimes when dialing a City Numbers number, it will return with busy tone. This article gives a reason this could happen and provides information to resolve the issue.

In many cases from previous tickets, we have seen the wrong number being dialed which causes the busy tone to be returned instead of connecting to the correct termination number.
- Please verify the number in any emails or other documentation received and ensure the correct number is being dialed.
- After confirming the number and you find you are dialing the correct number, verify you are using the correct format for the number with this article.
- Of course, if you find the number is correct and being dialed in the right format, open a ticket with support to investigate and help resolve the issue.

When troubleshooting these issues using the Troubleshooting Overview, if the customer is dialing the wrong number and they provide the number they dialed, when searched for in the billing portal the number will not show in any search results. In this case, we would have to report to the customer that the number they are dialing is not a CityNumbers number.
